As in his other recordings, in "To The Evening Child" Stephan Micus combines instruments from the far corners of the world, instruments that have, most likely, never been recorded together before. The music transports the listener and uplifts the spirit. It is completely without hype, politics or pretention. It is universal, uncluttered and uncompromising in its beauty. It is timeless.

Tangerine Dream - Purgatorio (2004)

Purgatorio is the second part of Tangerine Dream's three part interpretation of Dante's "La Divina Commedia".

Unlike the other two parts of the trilogy which were recorded live, this double CD set, running to over 130 minutes, is a studio recording. Once again (as with Inferno), the piece is primarily in the form of an oratorio, with seven guest female vocalists. These singers are a mixture of altos and sopranos, all with beautiful, classically trained voices.

Tangerine Dream, who remain essentially the father and son team of Edgar and Jerome Froese, provide the keyboards orchestration throughout.

Antarctica is the soundtrack to Koreyoshi Kurahara's film of the same name. Vangelis composed and performed all of the music. It is a very dynamic and dramatic set. Conveying feelings of angst, isolation, and even desolation, it is very good music.

6.- 0:54
7.- 8:07
8.- 5:23
9.- 4:14
10.- 12:18

Tempering the industrial tilt with slow, graceful rhythms and an ear for melody, Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton produced one of the best works in the ambient house canon. The tick-tock beats and tidal flair of "14:31" are proof of the duo's superb balance of beauty with a haunting quality. On several tracks the darkside appears to take over (the pinging ambience of "9:39") but for most of 76:14 the melodies and slow-moving rhythms chart a course toward the upbeat and positive.

(Reuploaded) Rick Wakeman: The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975)

Tracks:
1.- Arthur
2.- Lady Of The Lake
3.- Guinevere
4.- Sir Lancelot And The Black Knight
5.- Merlin The Magician
6.- Sir Galahad
7.- The Last Battle

Rick Wakeman's third solo album is among his best, as he employs his vast array of keyboards to their full extent, musically describing the characters pertaining to the days of King Arthur's reign. With orchestra and choir included, although a little less prevalent than on Journey to the Center of the Earth, he musically addresses the importance and distinguishing characteristics of each figure through the use of multiple synthesizers and accompanying instruments. "Lady of the Lake" is given a mystical, enchanted feel, perpetrated by a more subtle use of piano and synthesizer, while the battle of "Sir Lancelot and the Black Knight" is made up of a barrage of feuding keyboard runs and staccato riffs, musically recounting the intensity of the duel. But it's on "Merlin the Magician" where Wakeman truly shines, as the whimsy and peculiarity of this fabled figure is wonderfully conjured up through the frenzy of the synthesizer. As one of Wakeman's most famous pieces, it is here that his astounding musicianship is laid out for all to hear, a marvelous bisque of keyboard artistry. The album's entirety is a sensational execution of Wakeman's adroitness, and with vocals from Ashley Holt and Gary Pickford Hopkins, it still stands along with Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Six Wives of Henry VIII as one of his most astute pieces.

Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd: Before The Day Breaks (2007)

Tracks:

1.- How Close Your Soul
2.- A Formless Path
3.- A Minute, A Day, No More
4.- She Is My Weakness
5.- Outside, Silence
6.- Hidden Message
7.- I Returned Her Glance
8.- My Monochrome Vision
9.- Turn on the Moon

Harold Budd and Robin Guthrie, a pair of legendary names in the ambient music world, created a two-album theme of music and emotions with Before The Day Breaks and After The Night Falls. Creating a kind of minimalist sound with these albums, the pair have created relaxing ambient music demonstrating that sometimes less is more, and better. Both are excellent for unwinding after work, for quiet times and perhaps even catching your breath at work. This is a definite recommendation for those who want their music a little calmer & quieter.
